We have it down to a science: Heat tweezers in open flame, hold dog down and soothe her, carefully apply hot tweezers to neck stem of tick, tug out tick, hug and love dog. Since we have done this so many times we have had occasions of 1) burning dog skin with hot tweezers, 2) leaving tick head in and 3) pinching swollen body of tick so that it explodes.
